Description

A fifty mile loop of the northern Cotswolds, starting and finishing in Winchcombe. This route starts and finishes on the Cotswold Way National Trail. Heading clockwise, it passes through Broadway and Chipping Campden, where it leaves the Cotswold Way, heading on other major trails and bridleways through Moreton-in-Marsh, Stow on the World and Bourton on the Water, before returning west towards Winchcombe.

Route devised by the Bristol & West group of the LDWA, and a qualifier for the annual LDWA 100 mile as an anytime challenge in 2021.

My own completion of the Cotswold Ring on July 9th 2021 was made within the spirit of an LDWA Challenge Event. For Navigation these events offer either a serious of abbreviated route instructions or a downloadable GPX file transposed onto a map, or mapping device. I used the latter. Most importantly, navigation was "on sight" with no previous familiarity to the route. Other attempts should try to emulate this approach in recognition of those who devised the route at the LDWA Bristol & West.
