One route, different directions.
From Florence, Rimini or from the Sanctuary of La Verna you can decide to follow the St Francis' Way towards Assisi and Rome. From the natural and wild environments on the first few legs of the journey in Tuscany, you will cross the gentle valley in Umbria to reach Assisi, the heart of the walk and the homeland of St Francis. A long stretch of landscapes of olive groves and hillside villages begins and extends as far as Spoleto. Crossing the Valley of the Nera river you will reach Lake Piediluco and then you will enter Lazio. The route leads you to the places where Francis lived and prayed in the Sacred Valley of Rieti. Continuing on through the splendid Sabina territory, you will reach the Eternal City and St Peter's Basilica, the destination of millions of pilgrims from all over the world.
