Description

IS ONE OF THE MAIN PEDESTRIAN ROUTES OF the Ukrainian CARPATHIANS within Ivano-Frankivsk and Transcarpathian regions. It consists of 8 sections and passes through 21 peaks covering the entire ridge of the Gorgans mountains as well as parts of the Chornohirsky massif. For me, this type of hiking is a logical continuation of my project, as it provides a deeper feeling of the native land. It is not easy and requires psychological endurance and hiking skills.

The route is completely marked with white and red markings. The official start of the route is Toruń Pass. The elevation of the pass is 931 meters above sea level.

The route ends near the border with Romania (Mount Tomnatyk, in the massif of the Yalovichorsky Mountains) among the remnants of the Pamir radar station (photo attached) on a height of 1565.3 m. The official end of the route lies in the village of Shepit – 16 km from the Pamir radar. From there you can take a bus and get to the nearest city.

Previously, the route extended further into Romania, but due to the war between Ukraine and Russia, the route was shortened.

Total height gain – 14000 m

Total descent – 14673 m

I completed this route in 15 days in June this year and made a video on YouTube about all the details of the passage. The expedition aimed to popularize the great trekking routes through the Carpathians. As well as to show that they are almost completely marked, safe, open, and are in no way inferior to European ones, except for different nature and landscapes. And therefore it is worth and interesting to discover them! As a bonus – this route passes through villages where you can stop for the night or get food.  I will gladly provide all the details and tell the story of the expedition.
