Route: El Camino de Costa Rica (Costa Rica)

Location
Costa Rica
Distance
264 km
Vertical Gain
5,500 m
Description

The Camino de Costa Rica begins at the Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica, either in the town of Parismina or in the community of Barra de Pacuare. After crossing the islands at either location, a ferry is needed to transit the canals to the dock at Goshen. From there, the trail continues on land across Costa Rica, approximately 160 miles, to the town of Quepos on the Pacific. One portion of the trail crosses through indigenous territory, where a local guide is required. The Mar a Mar Association designed the trail to help the development of small rural businesses with a commitment to sustainability.
