Description

The Erewash Valley Trail is a circular route taking on 30 miles of waterways and countryside of the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire borders.  The valley is a special place that has inspired authors such as DH Lawrence and Alan Sillitoe, and is a haven for wildlife. Much of what we see in the valley today reflects the activities of the 18th century, the river providing travel, transport and power, prior to the steam age.  It is now a popular destination for leisure activities such as running, cycling, angling and boating. There are many points of interest along the trail, such as the impressive geological feature of the Hemlock Stone, Wollaton Hall (featuring in The Dark Knight Rises), and the Bennerley Viaduct, which is the longest wrought-iron Viaduct in the country.

Going to have a crack at this on Thursday morning (the 2nd of June)

Completed yesterday morning (Thursday 2nd June) in a time of 3:55:56. Beautiful route at this time of year!

Had a go today - should have checked your Strava route rather than going rogue and looping wide around the top of the Cromford Canal to “complete” the loop, which added some time and got me soaked through in the process. 4:13, starting and finishing at Attenborough train station.

Hey Chris

Just discovered you bagged the FKT! Well done man, not gonna lie but I'm already plotting to try and win it back. Guess that's the fun of FKT aye.

I'll have to zoom in on your route and see where you mean in terms of looping wide of Cromford Canal. I can't quite remember what the route was like around there.

Anyway well done mate.

Ali

Take two on this tomorrow, hopefully it won’t be too damp
