This loop was just completed in February 2025, thanks to Eric Rulandjic and his team building a trail to connect Finger Rock Trail with Pontatoc Trail! It is now a 6.77 mile loop featuring one of the steepest and most technical trails in Tucson (Finger Rock) with one of the most flowy trails in Tucson (the new upper portion of Pontatoc)! The views are incredible no matter which way you run this route. If you go up Finger Rock and down Pontatoc (clockwise), you will ascend the steepest and most technical portion and run down a mostly flowy descent. Reverse the loop and go counter-clockwise for a runnable ascent followed by a steep, technical descent!
