Description

All of Fire Island, NY from Fire Island inlet to Moriches Inlet! Point to point! FI is such a thin barrier beach you have few options, but through the middle miles (Kismet to Watch Hill) you have the option of winding through beach communities via boardwalks instead of taking the more direct route over soft sandy beach. Choose your own adventure! This island is one of the most beautiful places on the east coast, certainly in NY. It feels remote, even on the very densely populated Long Island, since you can only get there by bridge on either end for either Robert Moses or Smith's Point bathing beaches or by boat elsewhere. There are essentially no cars on Fire Island, especially through the middle miles. There is one small water crossing at "Old Inlet" ~2 miles west of Smith's Point, it is basically dry at low tide. This route is heavenly.
