summit city loop variation: This could be a variation of the 4th of July lake loop.  But rather than starting at carson pass you start from the first parking lot on the road out to woods lake. Head across the creek and up to winnemuca. Turn left at the lake and head north on the winnemuca lake trail for just over a mile until you reach the junction with the pct just before from lake. Turn right on the pct and keep elephants back on your right. Stay on the pct for almost four miles until you reach the junction with the summit city trail at Forestdale divide. Turn right and follow the lightly used summit city trail downhill for three miles. You will meet up with the evergreen trail at the bottom of the canyon and summit city creek will be on your left but almost immediately (less than .1 of a mile) turn right on camp Irene trail. Stay on camp Irene trail for 3.2 miles , passing 4th of July lake on your left. You will reach round top lake and turn left on the round top lake trail and head back down to woods lake. Stay on the single track with road on your right until it dead ends into press just before the parking lot
