Description

The Wildnerness Figure 8 FKT is comprised of two Side Trails: Ragged Rapids Loop Trail & High Falls Loop Trail. Blue blazes create a route with little evidence of a trail. In treeless areas, the blazes are painted on rock outcrops or are indicated by rock cairns. The terrain in the Wilderness is rugged and in places very strenuous. It should be attempted only by experienced hikers/runners.

This backcountry route has no road crossings (or bail out points) nor cell reception. It is a true Wildnerness experience. You'll likely not run into anyone out there. It is a rugged but very scenic trail.

The route is in Queen Elizabeth II Highlands Provincial Park. Runners must drive down Black River Road, which is a 10km unmaintained road and may not be accessible in the winter or early Spring.

The official start is at the red gate (see photo) at Victoria Falls. The route direction is up to the discretion of the runner but both loops must be completed.
