Gäurandweg is a very well signposted hiking trail administered by Schwarzwaldverein. It crosses Heckengäu alongside the eastern slopes of Black Forest with it’s varied landscapes but also some cultural and historical highlights. It’s passing field land, wood land, tablelands and valleys, covered with fruit tree meadows, juniper heath and innumerous hedges of haw- and blackthorn. The open plains offer lots of beautiful views to Black Forest in the West and Swabian Alb in the East.
The official trail covers 120 km, starts at the city of Mühlacker’s railway station in Enz valley and ends at the city of Freudenstadt.
The route constantly changes between trail parts, forest and farm roads and road sections through the villages.
