Description

This route runs along the Genesee Valley Greenway, a former canal towpath turned into a railroad and now a trail. The trail starts in Hinsdale, NY and runs north up to Rochester. The starting point is at the end of Old Route 16, with a short out-and-back section. The trail then follows the State Highway 446 to Cuba for another out-and-back, then continues to follow roads connecting short sections of trail through Black Creek, Rockville, Belfast, Caneadea, Houghton, Fillmore, Oakland, and Nunda, before reaching the Sonyea State Forest. From here, the trail is continuous up to Rochester. In all, the trail encompasses a beautiful region of Western New York, rich with history. More information about the trail can be found at fogvg.org
