The Giro della Bionda is an excursion route, the concatenation of dirt, asphalted municipal and crezue roads on the heights of Genoa. It is, ideally, the natural circumnavigation of Monte Diamante on which the Forte Diamante stands. The defined route starts and arrives from the astronomical observatory in the hilly district of Righi, on the heights of Genoa and is just over 17 km long and has a positive difference in height of about 400 m.
The Fastest Known Time of the Giro della Bionda was born on this path, a non-competition, not organized, with free access to all, to have fun with friends and try your best performance. Always in complete autonomy and under your own responsibility.
The tour offers a complete variation of terrain and never long climbs. But it is the short jolts, located throughout its length, that make it difficult and very demanding to complete the lap at a sustained and constant pace. Even if busy and concentrated with your head down, the views that the route offers are worth noting: in the first part, you can see the Promontory of Monte di Portofino to the east and Monte Antola with the neighboring Apennine peaks to the north. After a few kilometers, the route turns west, making visible the coastal districts of the city, Valpolcevera, the Beigua massif and further away the Riviera di Ponente and the silhouettes of the Maritime Alps.
