Project "Via Glion"
Along the "Via Glion" hiking trail, a diverse range of offerings in the areas of culture, nature, sports, culinary experiences, and agritourism is set to emerge.
A focus will be placed on the integration of the Panix Lake. Existing services and attractions will be strengthened, while new points of interest will be added. The project aims to enhance the identity of the municipality of Ilanz/Glion, invigorate and enrich the individual hamlets, and generate local value by fostering close-to-nature summer tourism and revitalizing the off-season.

Via Glion Stage 1: Ilanz - Siat
The three beautifully situated villages of Ruschein, Ladir, and Siat lie on the south side of the Surselva at an altitude of 1,200 to 1,300 meters above sea level. You can expect plenty of sunshine on this simple hiking trail.
Via Glion Stage 2: Siat - Andiast
After the Siater Alp, the trail descends steeply through the forest to the depiction of St. James in the Church of St. Valentin in Pigniu/Panix, where Suvorov's army once looted.
Via Glion Stage 3: Andiast - Ilanz
From Andiast to Rueun, a comfortable dirt road leads through meadows and forests down to the valley floor. Between Rueun and Ilanz, the route is mostly flat, following gravel roads and hiking trails past the historic Schnaus workshop of the Giger brothers. The waterwheel is freely accessible for viewing.
Via Glion Stage 4: Ilanz - Cumbel
Starting from Ilanz, you pass by the Church of St. Martin in Ilanz and continue to Luven. In Luven, it’s worth visiting the Panera fire pit. The Panera spruce, at 48 meters, was once the tallest tree in Switzerland.
Via Glion Stage 5: Cumbel - Pitasch
Following the motto "over stick and stone," this stage includes short paved sections before leading you into pristine and nearly untouched nature. Idyllic mountain villages like Duvin and Pitasch transport you to a bygone era.
Via Glion Stage 6: Pitasch - Riein
Wildness and authenticity define this stage, where you won’t encounter many people. From Pitasch, natural roads and hiking trails lead steadily upward, offering views of lush green meadows.
Via Glion Stage 7: Riein - Ilanz
Natural roads traverse a landscape of alpine pastures, with a fountain inviting you to linger. The impressive Signina mountain range towers in the background. The trail runs straight to the Crap da Sevgein before turning left and climbing steeply to Sevgein.
