Starting at the Z Connector trailhead, this route ascends out of the Olympus Cove neighborhood. Following the trail takes you to the gully that leads to the base of the West Slabs, one of the best scrambling routes in all of Utah. On top of the slabs, you follow the ridge to the north summit of Olympus, down scramble and climb to the south summit of Olympus, where to connect with the standard hiking trail. Descent the standard route, and loop back to the original trailhead on the BST.
I love this route more than anything in the world. It has the perfect combination of engaging scrambling, technical downhills, and required route knowledge to move efficiently. The ability to complete this route after work on a weekday, when no hikers are coming up the main trail, makes me so grateful for where I live.
