The "GT 100" is a linkup of the two hardest running objectives in the Tetons: Climb and run the Grand Teton and then link up with the Teton Crest Trail.
Due to weather considerations and elevation gain, starting at Lupine Meadows and running the Grand Teton first seems to make the most sense. Most important thing to confirm before leaving is that the Owen Spalding Route is dry of ice for soloing. Another consideration is picking your day wisely, as the amount of climbers trying for the summit via the OS on an August weekend is quite high. (We encountered between 35-45 climbers on route during a Friday morning at 9 am.) Usually, people are fairly chill about letting you pass if your soloing, but definitely something to be prepared for. The catwalk is the preferred running alternative route, compared to Sargents Chimney, on the OS due to less traffic and easier travel. Oftentimes there is ice on this section, but is easy to step over if your comfortable in exposed terrain. Trailhead to summit is around 7.5 miles.
Returning to Lupine Meadows from the lower saddle is fairly runnable. We restocked here and took the east side of Jenny Lake to the String Lake Trailhead (around 5 miles) to the beginning of the Teton Crest Trail. From here, continue on to Paintbrush divide and up the South Fork of Cascade Canyon. Continuing through Alaska Basin, Death Canyon Shelf, and ending at Phillips Pass bench. Covering approximately 42 miles.
Overall, a great linkup of over 100k of trail, 17k of vert gain, and an amazing tour of the Teton Range.
