The FKT route for Utah's Grandview Peak via the Canyon Creek trailhead, which has year-round traffic up to the popular camping area Rudy's Flat. It starts with a steady, but gradual climb up the CC road, and continues on to flowy singletrack at the North Canyon trailhead, up to Rudy's. The trail above Rudy's is easy to miss and quite steep, but pops out on the Grandview ridgeline and the trail is well-defined rock for a mile or so. On the upper ridge, you must alternate sides to traverse steep grass, rock, and cliffy spots every 500ft or so. The UV exposure is quite intense above 7000'- I was pleased with how cool the ice bandana kept me, and later stuffed snow in my arm sleeves near the summit. Water is only available in the first 3 miles, so plan accordingly. The heat was tough and I had to soak in the creek after, but this route is a challenging, direct, scenic tour of Grandview. No seesaw up and down like the Great Western approach, this route goes straight up from ~5500' to 9410'. Despite how visible and accessible it is from downtown Salt Lake City, Grandview seems a forgotten gem of the foothills.
