Description

Healy Pass is a very popular trail starting at the Sunshine Ski Resort just outside Banff. It's used by day hikers, backpackers, and trail runners alike. It features a well established trail through the trees climbing to the top of the pass where an alpine meadow awaits, with incredible views in every direction. Peak activity on the trail is typically during larch season from mid-September to early October, where the abundance of larch trees turn a beautiful golden colour.

There are three FKTs associated with Healy Pass, all with Strava segments for ease of tracking and viewing of the routes. The "up" and "up/down" FKTs start on the trail at the second (further) bridge from the parking lot to prevent confusion about which bridge to select (also at the time of FKT creation, the first bridge was closed for construction and is unclear if it will reopen). The distance between the two bridges is minor regardless, only around ~80 m. The "down" FKT also ends at the same spot. The "up/down" turnaround point and the start of the "down" FKT is at the sign at the top of Healy Pass.
