The Heart of Iowa trail is a rail-to-trail system that connects Slater - Huxley - Cambridge - Maxwell - Collins. There is a natural grass/surface heading west from Cambridge. The trail covers some of Iowa's quintessential landscape from open fields, wind turbines, Skunk River, and more fields. More information can be found on the Story County Conservation Website
This route specifically goes from the Y intersection of the High Trestle Trail in Slater to the trailhead at Railway St in Collins.
