Description

The Heart of Iowa Nature Trail is a rail-to-trail system that connects Slater - Huxley - Cambridge - Maxwell - Collins in central Iowa. It is part of the Great American Rail Trail. There is a natural grass/surface heading west from Cambridge. The trail covers some of Iowa's quintessential landscape from open fields, wind turbines, the Skunk River, and more fields. More information can be found on the Story County Conservation Website There are plenty of historical markers and amazing Iowa views along the route.

This route specifically goes from the Y intersection of the High Trestle Trail in Slater to the trailhead at Railway St in Collins.
