The Kendal Limestone Way explores a rich diversity of upland landscaped in South West of North Yorkshire and the South East of Cumbria - the main theme of the route is limestone, from the porous limestone uplands of the Yorkshire Dales National Park where rugged hills and towering cliffs of pearl white limestone dominate the landscape to the contrasting limestone landscape in the South Eastern corner of Cumbria where precipitous limestone ridges form a barrier between Lakeland hills and Morecambe Bay. Apart from the focus on limestone the way also visits towns and villages starting with Skipton and including Gargrave, Airton, Hanlith, Malham, Settle, Austwick, Clapham, Ingleton, Masongill, Cowan Bridge, Kirkby Lonsdale, Hutton Roof, Levens and Brigsteer before ending in Kendal.
