Description

Konza Prairie Trails are located at Konza Prairie Biological Station (KPBS), a research station operated by Kansas State University just outside of Manhattan, KS. KPBS is one of the largest areas of unplowed tallgrass prairies in North America. Enjoy miles of stunning views on well maintained trails. There are no fees but a donation is appreciated. 

The route includes all 3 trails: Nature Trail, Kings Creek Loop, Godwin Hill Loop. All trails start and end at the kiosk just off the parking area. Complete them in any order or direction.

An oasis just off I-70! Loved this route. More challenging than I expected. I encountered some fierce headwinds especially on the eastern part of the course. The hills were relatively short but pretty steep. Some of the grasses were still in a controlled burn when I was there. 

A squadron of Chinook double-rotor helicopters from nearby Ft. Riley flew directly overhead. Huge and very loud helicopters.
