"La Boucle Noire" (The Black Loop) is a 20 km walk around Charleroi, showcasing both the industrial landscapes and the emblematic slag heaps of the city, as well as urban and more rural landscapes.
The project was initiated by cheminsdesterrils.be and the long-distance hiking trails, supported by the City of Charleroi, Eden, Charleroi Bouwmeester, the actors of Martinet and the Manufacture Urbaine. It was a couple of punk musician artists, Micheline Dufert and Francis Pourcel, who had the idea for this trail, the aim of which is to discover varied and very contrasting landscapes, symbols of the mining and industrial history of Charleroi.
Every year since 2017, the Charleroi Cultural Centre (called L'Eden) offers in April to complete the Black Loop in a festive day, punctuated by artistic activities.
