The 7 Pueblos de la Tinença de Benifassà Route is a circular route linking the seven towns of Tinença, and covers paths and trails of great beauty and great natural value. The route has its start and end in the pretty village of Boixar.
The 7 Pueblos began with the aim of promoting the mountains to the north of Castellón and runs through Tinença de Benifassà Natural Park, a tour that combines sport, nature, culture and relaxation.
The route has two variants and both can be made either walking or running. Everyone is free to choose the best way for them. It is recommended that this route be covered in three days so that you can really appreciate the unique beauty of Tinença.
The route is not marked completely, therefore it is essential to use a map or GPS. You will occasionally find 7-shaped marks, PR or GR signposts and milestones.
Path1 (the FKT route) is the original route. This route will reveal the charm of Tinença in all its glory. For the most adventurous, there is Path 2. It is longer and steeper, but it leads you to the most symbolic peaks in the Tinença: Tossal de los 3 Reyes at a height of 1,356m and Tossal d´en Canadé which is 1,393m high. Tossal del los 3 Reyes is located where the borders of the old Kingdoms of Valencia, Catalonia and Aragon meet. And Tossal d’en Canadé is the highest peak in the Tinença, where we can see the Pyrenees on a clear day.
