Lake Mountain is the prominent mountain on the west side of Utah Lake. While is it mostly known for motor sports, it makes for a fun adventure on foot. Recommended to do in the spring right after the snow melts. It is quite sun exposed but when all the vegetation turns green and wildflowers start to grow it can be very pretty. This route features views of Utah Lake, the Southern Wasatch Range, the Oquirrh Mountain range, and the West Desert. You run mostly on old ATV trails and double track but it also has some service roads, some single track, and some ridge running. You'll mostly likely have the mountain to yourself in the spring as I've rarely seen any other people up there when I've ran, biked, or skied up there. Maybe this mountain is underrated? Maybe it's been under cared for? Or maybe I just love it because it's the mountain in my backyard.
