A remote, challenging 46 km point-to-point trail through Te Urewera National Park, North Island, NZ. This route features undulating terrain, steep climbs (including Panekire Bluff), technical forest sections, and lakeside tracks. Ideal for experienced trail runners, the track requires self-sufficiency, including water, navigation, and food for multi-day attempts or fastpacking runs. Start at Onepoto Bay and finish at Hopuruahine Landing, or reverse. The trail rewards with stunning lake views, waterfalls, and pristine native forest, making it a scenic yet demanding FKT route.
