Description

Landslide Lake runs the complete Landslide Lake Trail (Nordegg/ David Thompson) by starting from either Pinto Lake Trailhead or Landslide Lake Interpretive Fire Trail. The route is popular among backpackers and goes through several campsites on the Cline side. The trail is well used and easy to navigate with exception to the campsites around the lake and the alpine section at the actual ‘slide’. From the pinto side the trail meanders up along the south shore of the Cline River for about 7km until it turns up towards Landslide Lake along Entry Creek. At 12.5k there is the Y where the Lake of the Falls trail goes right. Follow Landslide Creek to the left up towards the lake for another 3k and then around the east side of the lake. This can be a harder part to navigate around the campsites, shoreline and overgrowth. Climbing into the alpine from the north can also be difficult to see the trail. The crux is at about 22k and then you have a steep blast down another 5 to the turn around at the interpretive trailhead/parkinglot. Beautiful trail with lesser crowds and great views all while not compromising on difficulty.
