This route is inspired by the Langdale Horseshoe, a classic lakeland round and a classic lakeland fell race. The Langdale horseshoe is widely acknoweldged as one of the great rounds in the Lakes and the Langdale Horseshoe is one of the great fell races.
It is also inspired by Langdale's great climbing tradition. Again, Langdale is acknoweldged as one of the country's great climbing areas and is known particularly for it's 'integrales', which link up easy rock routes to make big, logical days out in the hills - these feature in the climbing guidebooks and there are many more technical challenges to complete.
This route logically links up the Langdale Horseshoe with soloing great rock routes below 5.8 in standard into the Langdale Rock Round - with much of the ascent being made soloing rather than slogging! No route has a technical pitch exceeding English 4b. There are 15 routes involved, 36 pitches and 773m of listed ascent.
