Route submitted by Paul Galipeau:
The Laurentien Trail is an unmaintained 75km trail that crosses the rugged northern section of La Mauricie National Park of Canada. It starts at Le Passage Lookout and ends at the Rivière-à-la-Pêche Service Centre. The total elevation gain is about 3,000 metres. The trail was officially closed by the park in 2013 (reportedly due to low visitation and a high number of rescues). Nonetheless, nine campsites complete with an outhouse, food hanging system, a cooking shelter and tent platforms were in tact as recently as 2017. The condition of the trail itself varies and users should only attempt it with a low pack weight and strong navigation skills.
Campfires were never permitted on the trail. Purchasing a copy of Chrismar's 2009 map of La Mauricie National Park of Canada is an essential resource for attempting this trail. The best time of year to use the trail would be August or September.
According to Wikipedia, park staff has reported the FKT to be about 16 hours - accomplished by an unnamed ultrarunner.
