Description

The Lavanttaler Höhenweg has a length of 138.1 kilometers and, as a regional long-distance trail, circles the lower and middle Lavant valleys. On 7 daily stages 4496 meters in altitude have to be overcome. The total walking time is approx. 46 hours. The lowest point of the Lavanttaler Höhenweg is the market town of Lavamünd (348 m above sea level), which is also the starting point of this circular hiking trail. The highest point is on the Koralpe at 2140 m above sea level ("Großer Speikkogel") and offers a magnificent panoramic view. 
The trail markings and the signage of the trail are in the hands of the Austrian Alpine Association section Wolfsberg. At intervals of about 2 hours, 23 partially unmanaged or unoccupied checkpoints line the way.
