Description

The Lavanttaler Höhenweg has a length of 165 kilometers and, as a regional long-distance trail, circles the lower and middle Lavant valleys. On 9 daily stages 5900 meters in altitude have to be overcome. The total walking time is approx. 46 hours. The lowest point of the Lavanttaler Höhenweg is the market town of Lavamünd (348 m above sea level), which is also the starting point of this circular hiking trail. The highest point is on the Koralpe at 2140 m above sea level ("Großer Speikkogel") and offers a magnificent panoramic view.
The trail markings and the signage of the trail are in the hands of the Austrian Alpine Association section Wolfsberg. At intervals of about 2 hours, 23 partially unmanaged or unoccupied checkpoints line the way.

I aggree with Johannes, the route shared here by - today, May 25th 2026 - does not follow official routs of tour portals in some details. It's not much differences, but they are there e.g. arround Burg Rabenstein, the highes point of the Rout Speik Kogel and Verhounig Kreuz.

As said, it's not much, but these differences don't make so much sense to this official tour. And as slong as there are no FKT's available, it's may be a god time and worth to correct it.

Thank you,
Christian
