Description

Le Ciron is a river in the Southwest of France that is known for the micro-climate it creates that enables the production of the famous sweet wine Sauterne (one of the most expensive wines in the world). The other reason for being famous is the river is almost entirely covered by a primal beech forest dating back 40,000 years, hosting a rich wildlife. Along the way, a number of castles and windmills are standing for centuries.

The route along the river from its source in Lubbon to its convergence with the Garonne in Barsac is not well documented. The GPX track is my best effort to construct a trail as close as possible to the river based on several different topo maps. Once I have run the route I will post the GPX proving what is actually possible!
