Description

Starting and ending at Inverness, the Highland capital, Loch Ness is primarily known as a newer walking route that links the South Loch Ness Trail with the Great Glen Way to make a complete circuit of the famous loch.

Comprised of a mix of well-kept gravel, woodland tracks and disused roads the route offers fantastic views with pretty straightforward running, and with well established way points along both of the long distance trails it connects, there is ample opportunity to resupply if self supported, or meet a crew if supported.

The route provided here takes the more spectacular "high" routes of the Great Glen Way for the sections between both Fort Augustus and Invermoriston, and Invermoriston and Drumnadrochit.
