Description

The Long Beach Peninsula Traverse is a 31-mile run from the southern to northern terminus. Beginning south of Cape Disappointment at the end of the jetty demarcating the Columbia River and Pacific, then heading north through the towns of Ilwaco, Long Beach, Oceanside, Ocean Park, and into Leadbetter State Park.

Long Beach Peninsula gained prominence as the westernmost terminus for the Lewis and Clark Expedition (they reached Cape Disappointment in November 1805). The peninsula is also known for its 28-mile continuous sand beach, for its prolific production of farmed oysters and cranberries, and for the annual migration of shorebirds which refuel on the peninsula before heading onwards.
