Lunga Marcia in Alta Val Nure “Dante Cremonesi” organized by the Gruppo Alpinisti Escursionisti Piacentini APS -GAEP-, has been an unmissable event for over half a century for all mountain enthusiasts, but also for those who simply want to experience a pleasant excursion at a free pace in nature.
From the Passo del Cerro, on paths without difficulties you reach the historic Vecchia Dogana del monte Crociglia, now Rifugio GAEP "Vincenzo Stoto" (m 1362).
One day in 1970, jokingly thinking that for those who could not stand driving it was easier to reach the Vecchia Dogana on foot, almost as a challenge three members, Tonino Ballotta, Luciano Barbieri and Umberto Bosoni, with the logistical support of Dante Cremonesi, set off on foot at night from Piacenza and the next day they arrived for lunch at the Rifugio. From this undertaking was born the idea of organizing a walk a little longer than usual on the ridge of the Apennines between Val Nure and Val Trebbia. Thus in 1971 the ‘Marcialonga’ was born, today Lunga Marcia in Val Nure, a 33 km mountain walk; an event that has now been repeated unchanged for over fifty years.Since 2007, the march has been named after Dante Cremonesi, one of the founders of the association who, until his death, was the treasurer and true soul of GAEP.
