Description

This DIY ultra route links every established trail on Magnetic Island into a continuous effort — a full traverse of the island’s rugged coastline, granite peaks, and hidden bays. Starting from Picnic Bay and finishing wherever your route ends, you’ll cover all signed National Park trails including Hawkings Point, the Nelly-Acadia loop, Forts Walk, Radical Bay, Florence Bay, Horseshoe Bay, Balding Bay, and West Point tracks.

In summer, the intense North Queensland heat and high humidity can push the heat index beyond 35°C, making hydration, timing, and heat adaptation critical. Winter offers safer, cooler temps (12–27°C), and is the recommended season for FKT attempts.

The terrain is technical in parts, with steep climbs, loose rocks, and long exposed sections. Navigation is straightforward on marked trails, but completing all trails in one continuous push requires smart logistics and route planning.

No aid stations but opportunities to refuel in townships if required. No crowds. Just you and the island. This route rewards endurance, grit, and a love of wild Australian landscapes.
