This is a beautiful route that traverses across all 3 of the ~5000m summits from Laguna Santa Rosa / Refugio Maricunga. I first did this counter-clockwise, starting with 7 Hermanas, but it could be done either way.
The route starts climbing the well-marked path up to 7 Hermanas (4890m) on easy trail. From there, one descends a bit and then climbs back up to the electrical tower on the nearby hill, where a rough jeep road leads down to the high pass on the road back to Copiapo. From there, the easy "trail" stops and it is mostly off trail for the remainder. The second peak, Cerro Santa Rosa (AKA Cerro Wubba Lubba Dub Dub) at 4910m, is a steep and loose scree field, without any real trail. Sometimes there is a light track to follow, but it's rough going. From the summit, the route traverse the long summit ridgeline, and then down another very steep scree field before crossing a dirt road and beginning the climb up to Cerro Pastillitos (5090m). This side of the mountain doesn't have a real trail, but rather a large rocky face that meets up with the normal trail near the summit. From there, the normal route's trail leads back down to the dirt road and back to the refuge.
Overall, this is a beautiful, but challenging route, and a great way to spend a day in Maricunga!
