I am submitting this route because I believe The Maze (Ice Cube Canyon) at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area in Nevada, a few minutes away from the Las Vegas strip, is the most exciting multi-sport canyon that does not require a car shuttle outside of Zion National Park. Many adventurers have completed this route, and it is widely considered the most notable canyon of the entire area. It does require basic technical skills because it is a technical canyon; but it includes an on-trail approach, multiple swims, an optional jump, and some down-climbs. I believe a fast time would be in the six hour car to car range. The minimum gear required is: rappelling harness, 1-200' rope, 1-120' rope, and 1-200' pull cord. Wetsuits are not required, permits are not required, and as long as a person or team completes the loop on foot and without aid, they can start at Ice Box Canyon Parking on the scenic loop or Willow Springs Parking. I prefer to start at Willow because there is a little shade for the car, and my pack is heavier at the beginning. It does require a short one mile road walk back up the scenic drive to Willow Springs from Ice Box at the end of a strenuous day, but it's a personal preference. There is a risk that Ice Box parking is full because it is smaller in dimensions than Willow Springs, which can hold seven or eight times the cars at its multiple parking areas both on and off pavement.
This route is usually completed with a team and I believe a two person team will be the fastest; although many people have soloed it.
