Why this is such a special route:
The Nordkette is the skyline of Innbruck, if you are in the city and look up, you see the mesmerizing, never ending Nordkette throning above. Chaining them to one continuous route seems only logical.
The route covers also the "Innsbrucker Klettersteig" Via Ferrata with a difficulty of C. A harness and Via-Ferrata Set is recommended https://www.via-ferrata.de/klettersteige/topo/innsbrucker-klettersteig
The route excludes 5 Peaks of the Nordkette, because:
- 1. Inlcuding them will bring excessive danger to the route, because freeclimbing in fragile rock is necessary.
- 2. The Peaks aren’t realy visible from city and they don’t follow the logical imaginary line of the Nordkette ridge.
The peaks excluded are:
- Großer Solstein (2541 m ü. A.)
- Kleiner Solstein (2637 m ü. A.)
- Hohe Warte (2597 m ü. A.)
- Hippenspitze (2388 m ü. A.)
- Hintere Brandjochspitze (2599 m ü. A.)
Please be also aware that on the Via Ferrata you will enounter a lot of traffic by climbers! The ridge is exposed, so stay safe and do not bring you or other climbers in danger!
