Route: The Motatapu Track

The Motatapu Track is a popular hiking route in New Zealand’s South Island, forming part of the Te Araroa Trail and incorporating sections used by the Motatapu Ultra Marathon.

The route may be completed in either direction, starting or finishing at Bush Creek Bridge near the Buckingham Street car park in Arrowtown, or at the Fern Burn Track car park.

The GPX route includes minor trail variations to avoid river crossings and other obstacles. Athletes should follow the designated GPX route carefully to ensure they remain on the FKT route throughout their attempt.
