Mount Calanda (2,805 meters/ 9,203 feet) is the most prominent peak above Chur, Switzerland. It is so well-known that it is the namesake peak of Calanda beer. This route starts at the Calanda restaurant in town, tags the high point of the Calanda massif, and ends back at the restaurant. The run through town is approximately 2 miles on pavement. Then, follow the main trail that leads near the Calanda hut. The route passes by a number of farms and water fountains. Once you pass the hut, it is a steep climb up to the summit. The final pitch up to the summit block is a little rocky and techy. Be sure to tag the true summit (there are 2 crosses up there). Soak in the views for a few seconds and flip around! This route has a bit of everything from flat running to steep trail climbs.
