Description

Route Description This route starts at the Lake Louise shoreline and follows the Lake Agnes Trail past Mirror Lake to Lake Agnes. From the far end of the lake, the route climbs into the alpine basin below Mount Niblock and Mount Whyte. The ascent to the Niblock–Whyte col involves steep scree and hands‑on scrambling. From the col, the route tags the summit of Mount Niblock, returns to the col, and then ascends Mount Whyte, which is more exposed and technical. The descent returns to Lake Agnes and follows the same trail back to Lake Louise.

What Makes This Route Special This loop combines an easy, well‑maintained approach trail with two dramatic alpine summits directly above one of the most famous lakes in the Canadian Rockies. It offers fast running, real route‑finding, and sustained scrambling in a compact distance. The contrast between the busy tourist trail and the quiet, rugged alpine terrain makes the experience unique and memorable for runners unfamiliar with the area.
