Located in Yarriabini National Park on the NSW Mid North Coast, this challenging point-to-point route climbs from the coast at Middle Head to the 498m summit of Mount Yarrahapinni.
The 22km route follows a combination of walking tracks, management trails and forest roads, passing through Middle Head, Scotts Mountain, Smilax Trail, Jimmys Ridge Road, Grassy Head Road, Ridge Road and Donohoes Road before rejoining the walking trail via Yarriabini Lookout to reach the summit.
The route features 1,200m of elevation gain, including a particularly steep ascent along Ridge Road from around 250 m to 400 m elevation. The terrain varies between maintained forest roads, narrower bush tracks and sections through gullies where navigation can be challenging.
Rated approximately Grade 3–4, the route requires good fitness and navigation skills, particularly at less clearly defined trail junctions. The course traverses coastal forest, eucalypt woodland and rainforest, finishing near the summit of Mount Yarrahapinni with expansive views across the Macleay Valley and coastline.
