Description

A point to point trail starting high in the Oregon cascades and following the North Umpqua River west to Swiftwater trailhead 3 miles east of Glide, OR. This route begins at the day use area on Miller Lake adjacent to Digit Point campground, 13 miles west of Chemult,OR. There are 12 segments all with well marked trailheads.

The route begins at Miller lake which is the closest vehicle access to the eastern end of the North Umpqua trail. Take the Miller lake trail to the northwest side of Miller Lake and veer left onto the Maidu lake traill. You will cross the PCT 1 mile before reaching Maidu Lake. Take the east shore and find the North Umpqua trail at the North end of the lake. It adds 4.5 miles to the advertised 79 miles of the North Umpqua trail.
