An established trail and popular route through Norway between south and north, following "Nordryggen" mountain range.
The route briefly visits Finland and Sweden, as this has been the common way of doing Norge PÃ¥ Langs for decades. The reasoning behind this is that a route strictly within the Norwegian borders would cause several challenges that is best to avoid (difficult mountain crossings, detours around big lakes, lack of resupply points, etc.).
This route has been altered in 2026 based on the historical "Geotrail" which has been the commonly used reference for NPL, however this route contains several flaws, inaccuracies and unlogical route choices. Based on Geotrail and historical completions, this route has now been revised as the new golden standard for NPL Nordryggen. The focus is to have a logical and aesthetic line and mainly focusing on terrain and marked trails, there are however segments where road is necessary to connect the route or is concidered the most logical choice.
Special conciderations:
Nordkapptunnellen is not allowed for pedestrians, motorized transport through this tunnel is allowed and highly recommended.
