Description

The Panamint 9000ers FKT is a peakbaggers traverse consisting of the eight peaks over 9000' elevation in the Panamint Range above Badwater Basin in Death Valley National Park, this route is to be completed as an out and back from the Wildrose Charcoal Kilns.

The following 8 peaks must be successfully summited during the outing:

1. Telescope Peak 11,048'

2. South Telescope Peak 10,450'

3. Bennett Peak 9980'

4. 2 O'Clock Peak 9960+'

5. Rogers Peak 9960+'

6. Sentinel Peak 9634'

7. Porter Peak 9101'

8. Wildrose Peak 9064'

Time starts and finishes at the Kilns, obviously you connect on foot without driving or hitchhiking. Routes in between peaks are up to the FKT attempter.

Would an out and back from Porter Peak be an acceptable way to complete this route? Asking for a friend...

Charlie, unfortunately our team doesn't have any tools to monitor these comments, so we just have to stumble on them, often pretty late--sorry about that! I'm regional editor for the Midwest, but I think it would be fine to start from Porter--though I don't see how that would be an advantage, compared to starting at a trailhead accessible by vehicle.
