Description

Scenic route through Payette National Forest that visits 5 alpine lakes. Loop starts and finishes at Louie Lake Trailhead sign, climbs to Louie 1st, and then spurs to the south for Vics Lake, and Fogg Lake. (The route also passes close to Rapid Lake but there is no official trail down to it.) Turns back at Fogg Lake and heads back to the junction of the 2nd spur, then heads east to climb up to Summit Lake. End of the 2nd spur is where trail starts to move past lake and then heads back to rejoin the loop and pass the largest, Boulder Lake. The loop then connects back to Louie Lake TH immediately after Boulder Meadows Reservoir.  Lots of granite, July wildflowers, marmots, lovely meadows and marshes, and a few creeks to fill my water bottle from. Agility and route-finding necessary due to large amount of windfall.
