Description

The Pfunderer Höhenweg is a high altitude trail and hiking path in the Alps (South Tyrol). Starting in Sterzing about 15 km south of the Brenner Pass, it leads through the remote Pfunderer Mountains, which are relatively little frequented by hikers, to St. Georgen or Pfalzen near Bruneck. The route of about 73.4 km in length and 5570 metres in altitude difference can be covered by hikers in four to six days and runs through alpine and high alpine terrain at an altitude between 2000 and 3000 metres. The high-level trail crosses or touches the municipal areas of Sterzing, Pfitsch, Freienfeld, Mühlbach, Vintl, Mühlwald, Terenten, Kiens, Pfalzen and Bruneck.
