Out and back to Tunari Peak. Starting from Laguna Marquina at 4,430m above sea level, a total climb of 655 meters to the peak of Tunari at 5030m above sea level and return. After passing Laguna Marquina, one crosses a high altitude moss field that is popular with alpaca and llama, then a rocky climb full of fauna begins to the dam at Laguna Machu. Take the steep approach to the right side of Laguna Machu, up a moraine through the "window" and then Tunari peak is visible. The final approach is steep and the moraine makes for slow advance. Descent through the "window" and the steep descent to return to Laguna Machu. Cross the dam and take the jeep road back to the Laguna Marquina.
