The route begins at the door of the clinic, right next to the lower station of the Al Andalus gondola lift in the Sierra Nevada ski resort. It goes up along the El RÃo slope, passes through the slope called La Playa, and connects with Borreguiles via the slope called Paso de las Temopilas. From Borreguiles, the route continues almost straight, first passing through green slopes and then tackling the El Cordón slope (Antonio Zayas drag lift). The last meters of ascent take place out of the skiable area. The descent is carried out following the same route as the ascent. Mountain skis are used at all times.
Pico Veleta is the highest summit in Sierra Nevada and hosted the most southern European glacier until the middle of the XX century.
