Description

This route is a unique take for the Mid South of the USA.  It is based on the infinity loops typically run on volcanos in the Pacific Northwest or in other parts of the world.  To have such a possible route in this part of the country is rare.  The infinity loop is shaped after the infinity symbol looking much like a figure eight. It involves an up and over of a mountain from one side to the other.  A complete circumnavigation of the mountain, and then repeat the up and over in the opposite direction. Pinnacle Mountain in Arkansas is perfectly set up for this with its already existing trails.

My brother and I started at the west trailhead and completed the up and over from west to east on Pinnacle.  We then ran the Base Trail clockwise around the entirety of the mountain starting and stopping at the east trail.  We then reversed our up and over of Pinnacle going from east back to the west trailhead.

Its a fun and scenic effort and one that can be done without a humongous effort.  We set out to mostly complete and explore the route and our time should no doubt easily be broken.

We think the Infinity Loop FKT would be a nice addition to the already existing FKT for the west side trail up and the west side trail up & down on Pinnacle and think our submission would encourage others to take this route to the next level in terms of speed and performance.
