Description

The REM is a light metro rapid transit system serving Greater Montreal, which as of the opening of the A4 branch in November 2025, consists of 19 stations spanning around 50km. See https://rem.info/en/map for more details.

This route follows as closely as possible the REM network from end to end, specifically the A4 and A1 branches from Deux Montagnes to Brossard stations, north to south. Public transit is pretty convenient to get to/from start and finish!

The original idea was to pass by every single station, but due to limited pedestrian crossings from Laval to Montreal, a detour from the train line is unavoidable. Instead, the goal became to follow the line as closely as possible while keeping a sensible route that didn't double back. The route is varied and includes going over (not through!) the Mont Royal mountain, picturesque and not-so-picturesque suburbs, industrial areas, parks, downtown and the Champlain bridge.
